Free Tyre
Inspection

Drive in this week — our experts check tread, pressure & alignment at no cost.

Choosing Right

The size is only half the answer

Two tyres in the same size can behave completely differently in the rain. Here is what actually matters before you buy — and what we will tell you even when it costs us the sale.

Fit the specified size

Going wider or lower than the placard on your door pillar throws out the speedometer, confuses ABS and traction control, and voids the warranty on tyre and car.

Mind the load & speed rating

They are not decoration. A tyre rated below your car's specification is illegal, uninsurable, and the first thing an assessor checks after a crash.

Wet grip beats everything

You spend far more of a tyre's life in monsoon traffic than at 200 km/h. An A-rated wet-grip tyre stops several car lengths shorter in the rain.

Replace in pairs, same axle

Mixing a new tyre with a half-worn one makes the car pull under braking. If you buy only two, they go on the rear — whichever wheels drive.

Read the DOT date

Rubber hardens with age. A five-year-old tyre with full tread is still past its best — we show you the DOT code on every casing before we fit it.

Cheaper can be the right call

Do 8,000 km a year in the city? A mid-range Indian tyre is the honest recommendation — we will say so rather than upsell a premium touring tyre you never use.

Included Every Time

What comes with every car tyre

The tyre is the product. This is the service that goes with it — at no extra charge.

Wheel Balancing

Every wheel goes on the road-force balancer, not the eyeball. The steering shimmy you have learned to live with at 90 km/h simply disappears.

N2

Free Nitrogen Filling

Nitrogen holds pressure longer and runs cooler than air, so your tyres wear evenly. Free with every fit, and free to top up whenever you pass by.

Free Tyre Inspection

Tread depth, sidewall cracks, uneven wear, DOT age and pressure — checked free whether you buy from us or not. Drive in any time.

Warranty Handled

If a casing fails inside its warranty, bring it back. We photograph it, file the manufacturer claim and follow it up — you do none of the paperwork.

Questions

Car tyre FAQs

What drivers ask us most often at the Chromepet workshop.

Our quote always includes fitting, balancing, nitrogen and a new valve, and tyre pricing shifts with the manufacturer's monthly scheme. A bare number on a web page would not be the number you actually pay. Send us your car or your size on WhatsApp and we will give you one all-in figure straight away.

It is moulded into the sidewall — something like 195/65 R15 91V. 195 is the width in millimetres, 65 is the profile (the sidewall height as a percentage of that width), R15 is the rim diameter in inches, and 91V is the load index and speed rating. If you would rather not squint at it, send us a photo of the sidewall and we will read it for you.

No. Replace in pairs on the same axle, so both sides of the car behave identically under braking. If you are only doing two, they go on the rear — even on a front-wheel-drive car. A car that loses grip at the front understeers and washes wide, which you can correct; one that loses grip at the rear spins, which mostly you cannot.

Five years or roughly 40,000–60,000 km, whichever comes first. The legal minimum tread is 1.6 mm, but in Chennai's monsoon we would change at 2.5 mm — wet braking falls off a cliff below that. Rubber also hardens with age, so we check the DOT date, not just the tread depth.

Nitrogen molecules are larger than oxygen, so they escape through the rubber more slowly and your pressure stays where you set it for longer. It also carries less moisture, so it runs cooler and the pressure is more stable on a long drive. It is not magic and it will not make your car faster — but correct pressure is the single cheapest thing you can do for tyre life and fuel economy. We fill it free.

Yes — 3D laser alignment on a Hunter rig, and we recommend it every time you fit new tyres. There is no point putting fresh rubber on a car that is quietly scrubbing the edge off it. We will show you the before-and-after printout so you can see what was actually out.
